Sewerage network in Goa Only 16% of state covered.

The state faces an uphill task to treat its sewage with sewerage infrastructural not keeping pace with the growing population and rapid urbanisation.
Only 59 per cent of sewage generated in state is treated at the sewage treatment plants (STPs) as the sewage network coverage is poor.
According to the data produced by the Sewerage and Infrastructural Development Corporation of Goa Ltd (SIDCGL) before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in the matter of river pollution, sewerage network coverage in Goa is only 16 per cent and only three towns Panaji, Margao and Vasco are equipped with proper sewerage system with sewage treatment plants (STPs).
So 84 per cent of areas are still not covered as a result untreated sewage is discharged into nullahs or river bodies thereby polluting them.
